Urban living in the Munich district of Schwabing
“OLYMPIA GATE MK 2” embodies the essential aspects of urban life in an architecturally trail- blazing complex. It includes three maisonettes, around 25 flats, business apartments and retail premises. With its multi-functional design and the interweaving of urban processes, the project is a prime example of future-proof city planning.
Whereas the Punkthaus in the inner courtyard has a somewhat restrained look, with its smooth, finely textured finish in beige clay, the multi-functional L-shaped complex facing the road is clad in a striking three-dimensional brick structure with slim, elegant window openings. The reserved, earthy colours form a counterpoint to the extrovert style of the textured surface. This gives the building an expressive and distinctive character. The construction phase Mk 2 project is being planned using a design draft by competition winner Steidle architects.
